Torre Coccaro is a Masseria (farmhouse) only a few steps from the sea dating back to the XVI century. It is surrounded from groves of olive trees, almonds, carob, this tower used to be part of a line of defense against the invasions from the Saracens. Now it is an elegant 5 star deluxe resort but still the atmosphere of 500 years ago permeates the property.
Walking in the courtyard we see the private chapelfrom 1730, were we still serve mass and ceremonies, then you see the old vegetable garden and the vaulted deposits of cherry tomatoes left under the sun to dry. |
